I am a PhD candidate in the Advanced Studies Program at the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, working on the long-run economic costs of war, Ukraine’s role in Europe’s security architecture, and geoeconomics more broadly. Before starting my PhD I completed dual bachelor’s degrees in Political Science and Economics and a master’s in Economics at LMU Munich, with exchange semesters in Beijing and at UC Berkeley.

A View to a Kill…ing of Productivity
We study allocative efficiency and total factor productivity losses among Ukrainian firms during Russia’s full-scale invasion, 2022–2024. Combining ORBIS firm-level data, the Hsieh–Klenow misallocation framework, and the geocoded VIINA conflict dataset, we quantify how the war has reshaped the productive fabric of the Ukrainian economy.
